Moving This Summer? You Need This Advice!

Most people like to start the Summer off with a clean slate, but if your Summer involves literally picking up and moving to a new place, you need a little bit of help to get through it.  Between Mother Nature and Murphy’s Law, moving soon comes with a few unique quirks.

Luckily, we’ve got you covered!  These 3 tips will make your move easier:

1.  Look carefully at your moving quotes

January is part of the moving industry’s off-season, so you’ll likely get a better price from a moving company now than if you were to wait for July or August to roll around.  When you get a quote, check out the fine print to see if it includes any kind of discount.  If it doesn’t, ask for one!  You may get to save some money simply because you’re one of the few customers to come along this new year.

2.  Only deal with reputable moving companies

If you want a stress-free move, make sure one of your New Year’s resolutions is to check out a potential moving company before you sign on the dotted line.  (Or, turn to a moving referral service, which does the homework for you.)  That way, you’ll know exactly who you’re dealing with before you hand over everything you own.

3.  Use your move as an excuse to de-clutter

If you truly want this New Year to be a clean slate, clean out your old junk!  After all, you’re going to be boxing everything up anyways, so go through things as you pack them.  If you can’t remember the last time you used something, throw it away or donate it.  That way, once your moving company finishes its work on the other end, you’ll get to live in a clutter-free home.  That will certainly make for a happier new year!
